CustomGPT.ai AI tool review no-code AI agent chatbot

What CustomGPT.ai Actually Does

CustomGPT.ai is a no-code platform for turning a business's own documents, help center articles, and other content into a chatbot-style AI agent that answers questions about that content. Its own homepage describes it this way: "CustomGPT.ai is the #1 no-code platform for creating custom AI agents for your business. It builds AI agents powered by advanced large language models (LLMs) tailored to your business content, without requiring any coding skills" (CustomGPT.ai, checked 2026-09-13, customgpt.ai).

The setup pitch is speed. The homepage says "you can set up a custom AI agent trained on your content in just 2 minutes, and then deploy it to answer questions from employees and customers" (CustomGPT.ai, checked 2026-09-13, customgpt.ai), and a separate heading on the same page claims "Go live in 15 minutes with custom AI that accurately cites your information." The two numbers aren't contradictory so much as measuring different things — 2 minutes for the initial setup step, 15 minutes for a fully live deployment — but both are the vendor's own framing, not something we timed ourselves.

In practice that means uploading a knowledge base of documents. The pricing page lists "Office documents (Word, PowerPoint), 1400+ document formats" as part of what the platform ingests, and the homepage separately describes the process as "Simply upload your documents and knowledge base, and the platform automatically processes this information to create an intelligent assistant" that answers scoped to that material, rather than pulling from a general-purpose model's open-ended training data (CustomGPT.ai, checked 2026-09-13, customgpt.ai and customgpt.ai/pricing).

Pricing and Trial Terms, as CustomGPT.ai Publishes Them

CustomGPT.ai's own site sums up the tier structure in one line: "CustomGPT.ai offers Standard ($99/month), Premium ($499/month), and Enterprise (custom pricing) plans with varying features and capacities, all providing no-code AI agent creation" (CustomGPT.ai, checked 2026-09-13, customgpt.ai).

The pricing page breaks the two published tiers down by usage caps, listed in the order the page presents them (Standard, then Premium). Standard is listed with "1,000 queries per month," "5,000 documents per agent," and "60M words storage capacity." Premium is listed with "5,000 queries per month," "20,000 documents per agent," and "300M words storage capacity" (CustomGPT.ai, checked 2026-09-13, customgpt.ai/pricing). We're reading these pairings off the page's DOM order rather than off an explicit table structure, so treat the tier-to-number matches as "how the page lists them" rather than a labeled table. Enterprise carries no public number — its call to action is simply "Book a 15 min call with an expert."

The pricing page also lists paid add-ons for exceeding those limits: extra monthly queries, extra storage in "million words" increments, extra documents processed per month, and additional agents or team seats. None of these add-on listings carried a visible dollar figure in what we could extract, so we're not going to guess at their cost — see "What We Could Not Verify" below.

The 7-Day Trial, in the Company's Own Words

The trial appears in the same short phrase on both pages we checked: "7-day trial, cancel anytime" on the homepage, and "START FREE 7-DAY TRIAL" as the pricing page's main call to action (CustomGPT.ai, checked 2026-09-13, customgpt.ai and customgpt.ai/pricing).

The pricing page's FAQ also answers what the trial includes: "Yes, Enjoy full access to all Standard features of CustomGPT.ai, for 7 days without any charges" (CustomGPT.ai, checked 2026-09-13, customgpt.ai/pricing). That answers scope — full Standard access, not a stripped-down demo — but not mechanics. We could not find published language on whether ending the trial, or cancelling a paid subscription afterward, is a self-serve action in an account dashboard or something that requires contacting support, in what we could extract from the two pages we checked. We won't guess at that here; if it matters for your workflow, confirm it with CustomGPT.ai before you commit to a paid plan, because "cancel anytime" and "how you cancel" are two different questions.

Security, Data Handling, and Model Choice

For a tool that ingests a company's internal documents, this section matters as much as price. CustomGPT.ai states: "Your data is fully protected with CustomGPT.ai through enterprise-grade security measures, including SOC2 Type 2 compliance and GDPR adherence. We employ strict access controls and encryption to safeguard your information" (CustomGPT.ai, checked 2026-09-13, customgpt.ai). The same answer points readers to what it calls its "Security & Trust Center" for more detail — that's the page to ask for if SOC 2 Type II or GDPR status is a hard requirement for procurement, rather than relying on the marketing-page sentence alone. The pricing page separately lists "Industry Standard SSL 256-bit AES encryption" as a plan feature. These are the vendor's own compliance claims, not something we independently audited.

On models, the pricing page lists "Claude 3, 3.5 Sonnet via AWS Bedrock" as an available option, suggesting the platform isn't locked to one model family. On file support, the homepage claims "1,400+ supported file types and dozens of integrations," while the pricing page separately states "Office documents (Word, PowerPoint), 1400+ document formats" and "Multi-language support (90+ languages)" (CustomGPT.ai, checked 2026-09-13, customgpt.ai and customgpt.ai/pricing).

CustomGPT.ai also states on its homepage: "Accuracy: third-party verified #1 for anti-hallucination technology, beating out major players like OpenAI and Google" (CustomGPT.ai, checked 2026-09-13, customgpt.ai). We have not seen the underlying benchmark ourselves, so treat this as the vendor's own summary of a study rather than something we verified independently.

Who CustomGPT.ai Fits

The clearest fit is a company that already has a working knowledge base — documentation, a help center, product manuals, internal wikis — and wants that specific content turned into a Q&A agent for customers or employees, without building a retrieval pipeline from scratch. The homepage's framing supports this: "Every AI answers questions. Create one you trust," built around citing your own material rather than generating open-ended answers.

If your actual need is a general-purpose chatbot for lead qualification on a landing page, or a WhatsApp-first automation flow, a narrower tool built for that specific channel may fit better. Two AI agent and chatbot tools in our own directory, Expertise AI (an AI sales agent built for HubSpot-first businesses) and Chatfuel (a chatbot builder centered on WhatsApp), are built around a specific channel or sales motion rather than a general internal-knowledge-base use case — see our separate Chatfuel review for how that one compares on its own trial and pricing terms. Which one fits depends on whether the job is "answer questions from our documents" (CustomGPT.ai's core case) or "run a conversation on a specific channel" (closer to what Chatfuel or Expertise AI are built for).

CustomGPT.ai isn't the only product in this "turn your documents into a Q&A agent" category — tools like SiteGPT, Voiceflow, and YourGPT are commonly grouped in the same category. We don't carry verified pricing or feature data on any of those three in our own tracking, so we're naming them here only as category context, not comparing their plans, limits, or trial terms against CustomGPT.ai's. If you're evaluating this category, treat that as a starting list of names to look up directly rather than a comparison we're making for you.

How to Evaluate the Trial Before You Commit

Because the published trial gives full Standard-tier access for 7 days rather than a limited demo, the practical test is to upload the actual documents you'd use in production — not a sample file — and check whether the agent's answers stay properly scoped to that content. Standard's published cap of 1,000 queries per month is also worth checking against your expected usage before the trial ends, since that number determines whether you'd stay on Standard or need Premium's 5,000 queries per month once real usage starts.

Because we could not confirm the cancellation mechanics described above, budget time before the 7-day window closes to locate whatever cancellation or downgrade path CustomGPT.ai actually offers, rather than assuming it works one particular way. Confirming that up front costs a few minutes; finding out the hard way after you've already committed to a paid plan does not.

What We Could Not Verify

  • Whether ending the trial, or cancelling a paid Standard or Premium subscription afterward, is self-serve in the account dashboard or requires contacting support. CustomGPT.ai's own pages confirm the trial is "cancel anytime" but don't describe the mechanism in what we could extract from either page we checked.
  • Whether trial or paid-plan cancellations come with a refund for a partial billing period — no refund policy language appeared in what we could extract from either page we checked.
  • Whether a credit card is required to start the 7-day trial. Neither page we checked contained that phrase in what we could extract, so we're not stating a position either way — confirm this directly with CustomGPT.ai before starting the trial.
  • The dollar cost of the listed add-ons (extra queries, storage, documents, agents, team seats) — the pricing page lists what each unlocks but not a price figure we could extract.
  • The underlying third-party benchmark behind the "#1 for anti-hallucination technology" claim; we have only the vendor's own summary sentence.
  • Independent confirmation of the SOC 2 Type II and GDPR claims beyond the vendor's marketing-page statement.
  • Pricing, usage limits, and trial terms for SiteGPT, Voiceflow, and YourGPT — mentioned above as category context only, not verified in our own tracking.

None of the above are claims we're making one way or the other. If any are deal-breakers for your team, verify them directly with CustomGPT.ai before your account moves off the free trial and onto a paid plan.
